Get the best out of your pads.

Cleaning foam pads properly

Our pads are an important part of our Koch-Chemie PolishSystem. They are precisely matched to our polishes and sealants. However, in order for our pads to deliver the performance required for a perfect result, the pads must be used and cleaned regularly and, above all, correctly. The correct procedure is very important to achieve the longest possible service life and optimum results

How to care for your foam pads properly

DOs:
- Between polishing processes, the pad should be blown out with compressed air to ensure a good removal rate.
- For component changes and longer polishing processes, the pads should also be sprayed with a degreaser (e.g. silicone & wax remover 1:3) and blown out with compressed air after a short exposure time.

Correct application, easy care

Correct application is the basic premise for maximum durability.

DOs:
- Use 2-4 pads per vehicle.
- Apply about 5 pea-sized blobs of polish to the polishing pad.
- Spread the polish and work it into the pad (crosswise at low speed).
- After spreading the polish, add product.

The 8 commandments of cleaning

DOs:
- Use several pads during paint preparation.
- If the pad is soaked with polish, continue polishing with a fresh/new pad or wash out the pad.
- Carefully separate the pad from the Velcro pad using a spatula.
- We recommend washing the used pads by hand. To do this, moisten the pad generously with an alkaline cleaner (e.g. Green Star 1:20). After a short exposure time, the pads are freed from the remaining polish residues by kneading them under lukewarm water. Hot water must be avoided at all costs, as the fleece can shrink and thus deform the pad.
- Store the pads on the Velcro side to dry.

DON'Ts:
- Do not polish over sharp edges.
- Do not polish the entire car with just one pad
- Do not remove the pad from the Velcro pad on the polishing side.
- We do not recommend washing in the washing machine, as this puts too much strain on the pad. For example, the adhesive could come off the fleece, which would have a negative impact on the durability of the pad.
If you still want to clean the pads mechanically, the used pads should first be soaked in a bucket filled with alkaline cleaner (e.g. Green Star 1:20). The pads are then wrung out with little pressure and washed in the washing machine at a maximum of 30°C/40°C with plenty of water and few revolutions.

- The high-quality, natural lambswool pads should be stretched on a plate so that the reverse side does not become deformed during drying.
